Overview

We have been working with 3 Mobile to develop security stands, specifically safe iPad 2 display stands and phone security shop display. Our iPad 2 theft prevention device is illustrated in this case study.

Project Brief

Design, manufacture and install iPad 2 display stands and iPad 2 theft prevention fixings to deter theft without compromising the customer experience. Variations of a safe iPad 2 display stand must be produced to allow for both static and rotational display.

iPad 2 Retail Security Display Stand.

The Whiteghyll Solution

The iPad 2 security display stand was fabricated from stainless steel and powder coated. The security display was laser cut to shape to provide consistent results, allowing for individual or large volume orders. Each secure fixing on the iPad 2 secure stand was designed to allow alterations to cover on/off switches or power cable leads for a sleek presentation of the iPad 2.

Rotational iPad 2 display stand.

Bespoke security screw fixings were used and release tools tailored to meet specific requirements as an alternative to a generic retail security display. Fixed and rotational options were produced, each providing the same level of security.

Project Brief

Design a hard wearing display box to be used in the Tottenham Court Road flagship store to display Paperchase’s Christmas product range.
Overview

Bespoke POS items and VM display solutions have been created and installed by our team for 3 Mobile since late 2008. Acrylic, metal and wooden display units, various printed advertising materials, wall mounted signage and security devices have also been produced to assist store promotions.

Brief

Design, manufacture and install VM display units for multiple store roll-out.

The Whiteghyll Solution

The 3 Tier DVD Holder was produced from 3mm white acrylic and a cover lens. It was designed to sit inside the metal display unit to hold DVDs or other promotional items.

Overview

Since late 2008, we have been working in partnership with 3 Mobile to manufacture and install bespoke POS items and visual merchandising solutions. Particular ranges have included acrylic, metal and wooden display units for mobile phones, wireless technology and mobile phone accessories. Various printed advertising materials and wall mounted signage have also been produced to assist store promotions.

Multi-Functional Display Cabinets

3 Mobile’s original display cabinets were constructed from glass which provided minimal functionality. Our design and manufacturing teams transformed this cabinet through fixing slat walls and acrylic panels.

Bespoke shelving was manufactured and installed to allow for products and interchangeable graphics to be displayed. Our specialised shop fitting teams visited over 350 stores and replaced the old cabinet with the new multifunctional unit within 4 weeks.

The multi-functional display cabinets have proven to be a success for 3 Mobile. They allow for store staff to relocate the shelving for different product sizes and replace graphics when necessary with no difficulty. In doing so, the cabinet is cost effective and the interchangeable graphics and products maintains an up do date brand and store continuity.

Overview

2010 will witness Heal’s celebrate their Bicentenary. They have an outstanding eye for detail and quality. Whiteghyll have been proud to be associated with Heal’s since 1992.

Project Brief

To work alongside the Heal’s design and development team and create a multi purpose window scheme for the pre and post Christmas season. Ensure all display panel backdrops and central floor display units will incorporate furniture sets and retail merchandise.

Escalator Anti Climb Barriers

Overview

Established in 1910, Kone have become one of the major players in providing lifts and escalators. They have factories located globally and for many years, Whiteghyll have had the privilege of being associated with their assembly plant in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

Project Brief

Work closely with the Kone design team and provide a safety device to prevent people from climbing on to moving escalators.
Manufacture the safety device and deliver to various locations for the Kone engineering teams to install.

The Challenge

The anti climb barriers installed to each escalator must perform the desired health and safety function whilst being inconspicuous.

Kone escalators in a UK train station.

The Whiteghyll Solution

The final designs were checked and approved by both of the Kone and Whiteghyll design departments. 10mm clear Cast Acrylic was selected as the most suitable material to meet the demands.

Production Process:

Stage 1: cut the material in Whiteghyll’s machine shop on a CNC machine and diamond edge polish to ensure a smooth safe finish.
Stage 2: transform the flat sheets of acrylic into the correct shape through heat and bonding techniques using jigs and moulds.
Stage 3: inspection and packing
Stage 4: distribution to various locations (final examination and installation conducted by the Kone team.)

Overview

In March 2008, BHS opened their new flagship store at the prestigious Barton Square shopping centre in Manchester. We were tasked to design, manufacture, and install bespoke chandeliers and lamp shades in three areas of the new store.

Project Brief

Design, manufacture and install bespoke chandeliers to promote the kitchen utensil and cutlery area, glassware area and home living sections of the store. Each oversized chandelier to represent the specific area of the store.

Powder coated metal framework creating a tiered effect chandelier.

Oversized spatular chandelier promoting BHS’ kitchen and untensil department.

The Whiteghyll Solution

The first chandelier was to promote the kitchen utensil and cutlery area. A metal framework that was powder coated to create a tiered effect body of the chandelier was designed and manufactured by our in house teams.

A second chandelier housed over 400 full size wine glasses that was used within the glassware section of the store. This provided a wonderful challenge for our design, manufacturing and installation teams who had to produce a fixing method that ensured that no glasses could fall from the chandelier once set in it’s location.

A specific fixing technique was employed to ensure each glass hung secure.

400 full size wine glasses hanging in the air!

The third area of the store was promoting home living and three oversized lamp shades were produced. The overall size was 3m diameter × 1.5m. The metal frame sub-structure designed and manufactured by our team was dressed in a canvas and tassels to create the finished product were procured from France one day prior to installation.

Giant lamp shade designed and manufactured by our in-house production teams.

Bespoke lamp shades installed by the Whiteghyll installation team.

All chandeliers and lamp shades were installed by our own installation teams using scissor lifts in tandem to suspend at an agreed height of the ceiling structure. Spot lights were then set to each chandelier and lamp shade.

The chandeliers and lamp shades designed, manufactured and installed by our Whiteghyll team were completed under very tight lead times. We were given days, not weeks, to complete the project.

This was a great challenge for Whiteghyll and the completed project is one that all our Whiteghyll team can, should be and are very proud of.

Overview

Whiteghyll have been heavily involved in the much publicised Knickerbox re-brand for Ann Summers. Our involvement included the introduction of the new logo as well as a new in-store theme to promote the Knickerbox brand.

Project Brief

Produce working samples to coincide with the initial ideas that Ann Summers had been briefed on. Required to work closely with Ann Summers to choose the elements that work more effectively with the look that was desired and which would prove to be commercially viable. All products to promote the Knickerbox re-brand.

Snowflake window vinyls again with large format window graphics.

The Whiteghyll Solution

Once the initial sample stage was completed, Whiteghyll manufactured the majority of the in-store and window point of sale for Ann Summers’ 130 UK stores. This included large format backing panels which were screen printed, CNC cut and then heat bent to form 3D butterfly shapes.

Large and small window graphics and various in-store point of sale products to promote the re-brand were also produced to ensure maximum exposure of the re-brand. All products were packed in-house and distributed by the skilled Whiteghyll finishing team to ensure that all products reached the 130 stores in perfect condition.
